JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Commercial Lead (Post Award) with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical, renewable energy, and energy transition industries.

The successful candidate will work with a Project Management team and will be working on one or more projects to provide commercial support post award. The primary duties of the role entail working with Wood's customers to develop the contracting strategy, to identify and prequalify potential subcontractors, to oversee the development of the invitation to bid (ITB) packages, and to manage change process, in accordance with Wood's contracted scope of services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the project operates in accordance with Wood's commercial policies and procedures, including the business Delegation of Authority
  • Lead commercial activities during the project life cycle from negotiation of contract terms through contract delivery to commercial close out.
  • Ensure that the contract is set up correctly in the appropriate business system.
  • Develop and implement commercial processes that support compliance with Wood's obligations under the contract
  • Implement and ensure compliance with the Financial Management Framework
  • Review project specific commercial strategies to ensure best commercial solutions are deployed for Wood and the client
  • Ensure that any necessary contractual notices are served in accordance with the terms of the contract, including client approvals, reporting requirements, preparation and submission of variation and contract amendment requests
  • Ensure that project KPI scheme(s), any as necessary, are administered in accordance with the terms of the contract
  • Contribute directly to value creation and commercial gain to Wood and the client
  • Establishing confidentiality agreements and providing assistance to clients on contracting strategy, preparing pre - qualifications and invitations to bid for licensors and contractors
  • Providing assistance on addressing subcontract queries, evaluating bids, and supporting in negotiation and finalization of contract documentation
  • Manage project timesheets and ensure that these are approved on time not to delay the invoices.
  • Ensure that payments to WOOD are made in accordance with the terms of the contract.
  • Expedite the client if there are any delay in the invoice payment.
  • Guide the Project Manager on all Commercial aspects of the Project
  • Responsible for and ensure that commercial models and scope of delivery are understood within the Project.
  • Take the Basis of Estimate / Commercial Handover Documents (including Commercial Plan) and develop Commercial Strategy for the Project.
  • Ensure that change is captured in contract variations/amendments.
  • Ensure that project costs are effectively controlled.
  • Establish & maintain commercial administration files.
  • Ensure that FMF reports are completed and issued in a timely manner
  • Drive Cash recovery
  • Manage any commercial team members and ensure that the correct commercial resources are allocated to the Project
  • Request, monitor and timely provision of commercial / contract deliverables in compliance with relevant policies and procedures and contract requirements (e.g. bonds, insurance certificates)
  • Prepare project cashflow forecasts/ budgets as required by Finance.
  • Prepare and ensure that cost / value reporting and end life forecasting on project are undertaken in accordance with WOOD policies and procedures and that the appropriate values are reflected in the management accounts.
  • Prepare final accounts and close out of contracts in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare internal project monthly reports for management.
  • Prepare and manage RTS between various Wood's Business Units in accordance with relevant WOOD policies and procedures and in a manner, which optimizes WOOD's commercial position.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to Project Managers.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, or Business Studies, along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred)

Knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Minimum 10 years in commercial field with 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong cost control experience within Middle East Major oil and gas Projects
  • Individual should have work experience in the industry which would allow understanding of and exposure to key contracting concepts and principle
  • Good working knowledge and experience of commercial administration and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office such as Excel
  • Good knowledge of different contracting strategies, the pros, and cons of different approaches
  • Hands-on experience managing the tendering of large complex high value contracts, and tendering of licensor technology packages
  • Experience managing project commercial issues in the oil and gas petrochemicals and renewable energy and energy transition contracting environments
  • A sound working knowledge of key terms within engineering services head contracts
