Job Description Summary
The Engineering Manager - Flight Test reports directly to the GE Aerospace Flight Test Operation Leader. This manager will lead the Flight Test Operation engineering team, which is a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technical specialists. The manager will work with other staff and teams at Flight Test Operation to drive continuous improvement, ensure reliability and safe execution of flight tests. This position may have management and leadership responsibility for exempt employees and non-exempt employees, contingent workers and purchased services.
In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Leads activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components.
High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required. Impacts and manage the team's ability to achieve service, quality, and timeliness of objectives. Drives initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the team and interfaces with other functions to provide effective coordination of metrics, dashboards, functional processes, and cross-functional initiative coordination. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

The base pay range for this position is $156,300 - $260,700. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 9/27/2024.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure on-time delivery of flight test aircraft ready to perform stated test missions with FTY=1 (first time yield).
- Management of a team of people covering several engineering disciplines supporting flight test execution. Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel.
- Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives. Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel.
- Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs.
- Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization; Lead technical reviews and participate as a reviewer. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments. Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate.
- Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Facilitate communication of technical, and project information between organizations and within work group.
- Execute and provide guidance for the analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product/program requirements.
- Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity.
- Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science. (Or a Bachelor's degree in other disciplines from an accredited university or college with at least 6 years of experience in a technical or engineering function)
- Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in a Technical or Engineering position.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability and willingness to work flexible and off-shift hours (including 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, nights, weekends, and holidays) when business needs dictate.
- Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations when business needs dictate.
- Ability and willingness to fly aboard an experimental aircraft including participation in development flight tests.
- Able to obtain and maintain FAA Class-3 medical certificate or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD S ecurity C learance .
- Some functions may need to obtain and maintain access to Special Access Programs and be subject to additional security screening.

- Knowledgeable about 14 CFR Part 91 Operations
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside GE, i.e., regulatory agencies and subject matter experts.
