The Technical Specialist is part of the Mechanical section of the Technical Specialist Program within the Midstream Maintenance Organization which supports Gas Plants, Pipelines, Terminals, and other facilities. The role is primarily responsible for providing technical support to front line employees including training, advanced troubleshooting and some project development and commissioning. The role may be required to assist with emergency response and recovery activities and to assist with front line activities when an area is shorthanded. Responsibilities are subject to change as business and other conditions require.

Responsibilities May Include:
• Providing technical training, as described below, to support the Midstream Skills Expansion Program in enhancing the technical capabilities of field teams in order to maximize their impact.
• Providing expert level guidance, training and advanced troubleshooting for plant processing facilities and activities.
• Providing training and technical assistance to field operating personnel, specifically operations and maintenance training.
• Training field personnel on new skills and assessing skill capabilities of personnel either in assigned region or other regions as requested.
• Performing skill evaluations and re-verifications of field personnel related to pipeline operations and maintenance.
• Participating in / assisting with Skill Qualification and Operator Qualification skill evaluations and re-verification of field operating personnel.
• Evaluating employee development plans to analyze and assist in leveraging common training opportunities.
• Identifying training opportunities to develop formal and on the job training in support of the Skill Assessment process.
• Collaborating with the Learning & Development Team to research and evaluate third party training for technical skills, soliciting feedback from attendees, and adjusting training as necessary.
• Providing technical guidance for design, installation and operation of mechanical equipment.
• Acting as a technical resource for project development, execution and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
• Providing mechanical expertise, as needed, to support other functions like Engineering and Reliability.
• Working with Engineering and other Technical Specialists to ensure related standards, policies, and procedures are fit for purpose and cost-effective.
• Identifying new technologies in support of reliable and cost-effective operations and staying current with changes to industry regulations, standards, and practices.
• Supporting the implementation of new tools, processes and technologies, including related training.
• Supporting related Emergency Response activities.
• Supporting root cause failure analysis of assigned abnormal operations, near incidents, failures and incidents, as needed.
• Performing other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Required Qualifications:
• Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid driver license and acceptable driving record.
• A minimum of 7 years experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment; oil and gas industry related experience required.
• Ability to utilize and analyze XMAP information and data.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Power Point.
• Knowledge of safety rules and practices.
• Must have solid organization skills and customer relations skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and demonstrate sound judgment.
• This job operates in both inside gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Regularly stoops, squats, kneels and crouches for durations up to 3 minutes. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the gas plant. Occasionally exerts pulling force of 130 Pounds. Frequently may lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may climb A-frame ladders.
• This position may be subject to extended workdays and/or work weeks in which it is required to carry a cell phone and will be subject to 24 hr/day availability in emergency situations.
• May require travel up to 35% of the time within assigned area.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing and managing technical training programs and conducting group training sessions.
• 10 or more years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment.
• Associate's degree in Technical Field.
