The Controls(I&C) Technical Field Advisor is responsible for managing control activities on site during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of heavy-duty turbines/equipment (generator or mechanical drive). The role includes reviewing plant engineering documents and P&IDs, troubleshooting plant systems and equipment, and directing resources such as labour, tools, and materials to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Manage control activities on site during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
• Plan, organize, integrate, and direct resources to complete work scope as per contractual requirements.
• Understand PLC ladder logic and navigate through ladder rungs while troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams.
• Ensure correct installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance practices are followed.
• Provide general knowledge of equipment instrumentation calibration, including various types of transmitters.
• Offer technical expertise to customers, service support, field technicians, and operators.
• Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports.
• Meet contractual obligations and attend technical meetings with customers.
• Ensure all in-field activities comply with company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures.
• Offer expert consultation on complex projects.
• Provide technical direction and support on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) packaged products.
• Travel extensively (internationally and domestically).
• Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments.
• Perform other duties to support FieldCore’s vision and align with organizational core values.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or 5 years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/commissioning without a formal degree.
• Successful completion of required training programs for TFA II.
• Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of equipment and site accountabilities.
Desired Characteristics
