Technip Energies and their partners was awarded an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the worlds first commercial scale gas-fired power station with carbon capture. The construction site is located in the Tees Valley in the North-East of England.
We are seeking a Subcontracts Manager to join the Project team in the North-East. You will be responsible for developing and managing the TENs subcontracts team on-site and will report into the Site Manager and Project Directorate.
The successful candidate will be site based once the site office is established (within 12-18 months) but until then, will work on a hybrid basis, attending the Milton Keynes and London offices as required.
Job Purpose
The Site Subcontracts Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the subcontracts team on-site for the worlds first commercial-scale gas-fired power station with carbon capture. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all subcontracting activities are executed efficiently, in compliance with contractual provisions, and in alignment with project goals. The successful candidate will report to the Site Manager and Project Directorate and will initially work on a hybrid basis, attending the Milton Keynes and London offices as required.
Main Accountabilities
- Oversee awarded Construction & EPC Subcontracts, primarily under the NEC4 framework.
- Prepare amendments to the Subcontracts as necessary.
- Receive and respond to all Subcontractor's letters.
- Ensure that the construction site team complies with the contractual provisions included in Subcontracts.
- Prepare and send out Calls For Bid, negotiate, prepare, and award local Subcontracts, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Manage and follow up on Variation requests issued by Subcontractors, evaluating their contractual and financial entitlement according to the construction guide document.
- Manage and follow up on Variation requests initiated by TENs.
- Formalize the settlement of disputes or disagreements to ensure TENs contractual protection until work completion.
- Ensure the collection and consolidation of information required for the completion and closure of subcontracts without disputes after work completion.
- Provide accurate weekly reporting on project subcontract matters to key project stakeholders.
- Maintain ongoing coordination with both partners and clients to provide a collaborative, harmonious, and consolidated basis for the project.
Requirements
- Professional Background: Extensive experience in the management of subcontracts on complex construction projects, with a specific focus on NEC4.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and cultures.
- Focused, diligent, and structured with the ability to deliver critical results on tight deadlines.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Ability to quickly immerse yourself in sometimes technical and complex subjects and organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong sense of service, quality, and confidentiality.
- Rigorous, proactive, punctual, and enjoys learning and finding solutions to new situations.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office suite of tools.
