We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer supporting Team Submarine in the NAVSEA Marine Engineering Directorate in the design and construction of the COLUMBIA Integrated Power System.
Team Submarine's Program Offices are responsible for:
The acquisition of the COLUMBIA Class SSBN and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the COLUMBIA Class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy's newest class of nuclear attack submarines (SSN(X)). The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class' capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The NAVSEA 05Z5 Directorate is responsible for the design and development of the COLUMBIA class Integrated Power System that provides power distribution and propulsion for the future ballistic missile submarine. They work with directly with the shipbuilder for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating all resources required for the design, construction, and Test and Evaluation (T&E) of the future submarine's power system. They are also responsible for all of the Turbine Generators for generating electricity for all submarine and CVNs. The future Ballistic Missile Submarine is the nation's top defense priority as the only survivable leg of the nuclear triad.

- Responsible for supporting the design and development of the CLB IPS electrical system, including the generation and distribution of all electrical power, and the controlling systems for all electrical components.
- Work closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, The shipbuilder, and Component vendors to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
- Provide support to our Compatibility test Facility in Philadelphia, PA where the pre-production components are undergoing testing.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
- REQUIRED - Have a current or active Secret clearance which is REQUIRED for consideration.
- REQUIRED - Have a bachelor's degree in Electrical (preferred), Mechanical, Computer, or other engineering degree or related field (Physics, for example).
- REQUIRED - Have a minimum of two years' experience in the design, maintenance, operation and issue resolution of complex electrical systems.
- HIGHLY DESIRED - Have Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience at a Prototype, Nuclear shipyard, or shipboard.
- Be articulate in both oral and written formats.
- Have the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Provide rigorous, responsive, technical acumen while retaining a collaborative and amiable approach.
- 10% travel may be required.
