Generac Energy Technologies is seeking a Sr. Staff Quality Engineer to join our growing team. In this exciting opportunity, you will play a crucial role in managing the total life cycle within a growing family of high reliability next-generation power conversion and solar energy storage products. The successful candidate will be required to have fundamental product knowledge and capable of exercising applicable quality tools flawlessly. Collaboration with many functions will be required to first assure a quality product is developed and released and then managed through the remaining life of the product. Candidates should be passionate about scaling distributed energy, and committed to robust products and aggressive quality and performance targets from Generac's Clean Energy Products.

This position is based in Waukesha, WI but will also be supporting the following locations:
Micro Products - Pacific Palisades, CA
Wall Mount Products - Portland, ME or Reno, NV

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall ownership of product(s) from the quality perspective.
  • Generation and execution of the Project Quality Plan for new products.
  • Leader for aligning product quality targets to expected product performance and reliability.
  • Defines key project Quality deliverables coupled to APQP and Safe Launch approaches.
  • Strong Quality Participant for DFMEA.
  • Acts as a gatekeeper during the New Product Introduction process to ensure that designs and processes meet quality criteria prior to advancing to the next stage.
  • Responsible for validating project deliverables prior to product commercial release.
  • Monitor adherence to quality and safety certification standards.
  • Aligns directly with Reliability engineering to develop execute and manage results from Burn-in/Run-in testing, Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT) and Environmental Stress Screening.
  • Oversees product fleet performance of released products and actively manages improvement needs through 8D approach to meet and/or exceed product performance targets.
  • Pivotal role that solicits support from other Engineering and Quality functions to address major product performance concerns.
  • Develops, manages and presents product performance KPI's and represents such in management review meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Project Quality Plans, application of APQP and Safe Launch methods.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in design and manufacturing of electronic, electromechanical or software products with a focus on quality management tools and processes covering the full lifecycle of a product.
  • Prior experience with generation and execution of advanced quality planning tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt
  • Experience with high reliability electronics manufacturing processes.
  • Capable of working individually or as a leader of cross-functional teams
  • Prior experience with power electronics hardware

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with high reliability electronics.
  • Application of APQP and Gated Project methods
  • Capable of generating comprehensive Project and Product Quality Plans.
  • Versed in 8D methods and CAPA Leadership
  • Solid Qualitative skill set and the ability to analyze and communicate well with data. (i.e. Excel, Various Database tools and Statistical Quality Tools)

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
