JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor - Nuclear Science/Chemistry

JOB PURPOSE:

The Department of Chemistry and the School of Energy Resources at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track position in nuclear chemistry, broadly defined. Individuals from all relevant areas are encouraged to apply, including actinide chemistry, separations, or materials chemistry relevant to nuclear applications. The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level and candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent with postdoctoral experience highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish a nationally-recognized research program with significant external funding support, and contribute to departmental and university-wide governance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop a thriving, externally funded research program in nuclear chemistry.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their discipline.
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide governance.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

Carry out necessary service to their home department.

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to develop coursework and teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Ability to design, securing funding for, and mentor students in the execution of research projects related to nuclear chemistry.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., chemistry, materials science, or nuclear engineering).
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Postdoctoral research experience
  • A strong track record of research accomplishments in their respective field supported by peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:
