Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Endowed Professor of Petroleum Engineering to begin Fall 2025.

This is an Endowed Professor of Petroleum Engineering (Tenured, 9-months). Primary duties will include building an independent research program to raise the research profile of the School of Engineering, teaching undergraduate and future graduate courses, and being an active academic service role model. A reduced teaching load is available to allow the new hire to establish their research program at the university. Moreover, course buyouts are available through internal processes and through external grant funding obtained by the faculty. Duties also include bolstering collaborative research within the School of Engineering and beyond. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The undergraduate Petroleum Engineering program is ABET-accredited and was launched in Fall 2021. The School of Engineering also has ABET-accredited Computer Engineering and Systems Engineering programs and is currently pending state approval to launch a transdisciplinary Master of Science in Systems Engineering.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a PhD. degree in Petroleum Engineering (or a closely related discipline) and is either Full Professor or advanced Associate Professor who qualify for appointment at the Full Professor level. While all specializations will be considered, candidates who can collaborate with current engineering faculty on research are encouraged to apply, especially in the fields of Geothermal Energy, Geothermal Drilling, Reservoir Geomechanics, Hydraulic Fracturing, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Oil and Gas Data Analytics, and Carbon Capture, Utilization, & Storage (CCUS). We strongly encourage candidates with track-record of sustained peer-reviewed publications and scholarship in the discipline with a proven ability to receive external research grant funding.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
