SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory¿s (SLAC) Facilities and Operations (F&O) Division manages one of the world¿s premier science facilities on a 400-acre Stanford site with 150+ structures comprised of office and research facilities for the Department of Energy. We are a service organization committed to the support and success of the Laboratory's Scientific Mission by providing safe and responsive engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and infrastructure. The Electrical Power Department within our Facilities and Operations Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the SLAC Electrical Infrastructure used to support SLAC¿s scientific mission. We are seeking a Facilities Engineer 1, who will play a vital role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of electrical systems within our organization. You will be responsible for performing different power studies, designing, implementing, and testing protection schemes for electrical infrastructure as well as analyzing and resolving potential faults and issues. The position reports to the Electrical Power Control and Protection group lead.

Your specific responsibilities include:
- Perform electrical power analysis such as short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop protection schemes for the company's electrical systems.
- Assist in designing control systems to monitor and manage power distribution.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve electrical faults and anomalies.
- Analyze data and provide recommendations for improvements to enhance system reliability.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and proposed solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry standards and advancements in electrical protection and control systems.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or other appropriate specialty, or combination of education and work experience meeting the CA Engineer-in-Training requirements.
- Knowledge of electrical protection and control systems
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with relevant software tools for electrical systems analysis, ETAP, or SKM
