Job Summary
Inspects, maintains, and repairs all facets of the water distribution infrastructure such as water mains, water meters and water services. Assists contractors working on behalf of the City of Hurst. Performs standby duty on nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned. Must be available for overtime and standby, as needed.

Water Utilities Entry Technician
High school diploma or equivalent.
Upon successful completion of initial probationary period, the Water Utilities Entry Technician will be reclassified to a Water Utilities Technician I. Failure to successfully complete the initial probationary period will result in termination of employment.
Water Utilities Technician I
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of six months of recent experience in manual labor activities.
Water Utilities Technician II
Must have one of the following:
OR
Water Utilities Technician III
Must have a valid Texas Class A CDL license with a Tanker Endorsement upon hire or promotion. Must have an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must have one of the following:

Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must have regular and punctual attendance, flexibility to work overtime and respond to emergency situations during non-scheduled work hours.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and essential job function physical screening.

- Works overtime and standby as needed.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on water/sewer mains, fire hydrants, water services and water meters.
- Moves various equipment and tools to and from work trucks, loading and unloading.
- Performs landscaping work following repairs to the water utilities system.
- Operates and performs service and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

- Performs landscaping work following repairs to the water utilities system.
- Operates and performs service and minor maintenance on equipment.

- Assist Crew Leader in performing all duties as required.
- Coordinate jobsite needs including tools, equipment, parts and fuel.
- Moving of equipment, tools and supplies from truck to jobsite.
- Assist contractors working for the City of Hurst on city infrastructure.
- Respond in a professional manner to all customer complaints.
- Maintain worksite safety including the safety of co-workers and the general public
- Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate.
- Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
- Availability to operate in the Standby On-Call Rotation as scheduled.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to locate, isolate, mark out and call in a main leak unsupervised.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a water meter leak unsupervised.
- Ability to read water and wastewater infrastructure mapping.
- Ability to operate, load, unload and prep for transport a backhoe.
- Ability to safely and competently operate the Vactor Sewer Truck.
- Ability to assist in the planning of "Job-site "operations including pre-planning, staging and work site safety.
- Thorough water distribution valve operation knowledge.
- Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining a high degree of productivity.
- Continued ability to work any day of the week (weekends and weekdays) and long hours.
