Job Summary
The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) instructor teaches in the prison setting and reports to the LSCPA Chair of Business and Industrial Technology and the Director of Correctional Education. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, classroom and lab instruction of basic refrigeration theory, heating, ventilation and air conditioning classes. Provide professional leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, attend graduation ceremonies, maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and work with the various administrative functions of the college. Other duties as assigned. This is a part-time position.
Minimum Qualifications
At least three years of HVAC repair and maintenance experience.
While an associate degree in HVAC is preferred, an associate degree or higher in another field, with at least three (3) years work experience in the industry, will be accepted.
Eight (8) years documented extensive direct experience in the industry may be used in lieu of educational attainment with appropriate industry-related certifications and/or licenses.
This position requires the individual to stand, walk, and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, push, pull and carry objects up to 50 pounds. The operation of appropriate tools is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in a qualifying field with three (3) years' work experience in theindustry. Knowledge of Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations rule and regulations regarding air conditioning and refrigeration contractors and technicians.
