Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this classification\nexists is to operate and perform preventive maintenance and skilled repair work\nof fuel sites at various city locations and to perform repair and maintenance\nof automotive shop support equipment. Employee operates and maintains the\npetroleum service truck to include daily servicing and dispensing of petroleum\nproducts to all automobiles, trucks, and heavy off-road equipment. Work responsibilities\ninclude ordering petroleum and alternative fuel products, servicing all city-owned\nvehicles, maintaining daily records of all petroleum products, equipment\nserviced and monthly records of fuel, and servicing, repairing, and rebuilding\nliquid fuel dispensers, pumps, piping, valves, vapor recovery systems, and\nspecial equipment. The employee has considerable independent responsibility for\nmaintaining an adequate supply of petroleum products and departmental supplies.\nEmployees in this classification report to the Petroleum Maintenance\nSuperintendent.\n
Minimum Qualifications
\nHigh school diploma or GED and one\n(1) year experience in petroleum equipment service and repair or another\nrelated mechanical repair field.\n\n\nNOTE:\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\nknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\n\n
Special Requirements
Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B and a Hazardous Material and Tanker Endorsements within six (6)\nmonths after hire in order to drive hazardous material vehicles. Must possess and maintain a valid state Alabama driver's license. Must be willing to be on call, nights, weekends, and holidays.\n
