Wood is currently recruiting for a Well Work Supervisor (Iraqi local nationals only) to join our Iraq business unit focusing on assuring well work/workover programs are carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner for a major onshore brownfield project on rotational basis (4 Weeks On/4 Weeks Off).

This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq.

Job Objectives:
  • Provides day-to-day supervision of activities necessary to assure well work/workover programs are carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner and in accordance with the approved work program.
  • Must be capable and willing to mentor staff to achieve industry/company standards as a minimum.
  • Ensures rig/ringless site SSHE plans are implemented and monitored incorporating industry and contractor standard safety requirements.
  • Implement the best available technology in well work operations to reduce cost/cycle time and to ensure safe /efficient operational execution to meet the approved work schedule.
  • Primary responsibility for ensuring that the necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, and services are available as required with a strong emphasis on contingency planning.
  • Cognizant of well integrity considerations in on-going activities.
  • Reviews, coordinates and updates well work / workover programs and operating procedures as required.
  • Monitors well work (rig and rig less) activities.
  • Actively involves all of the workforce irrespective of company or position in company SSHE activities.
  • Ensures that all staff participate actively in JSA, hazard hunts and daily observation and intervention activities.
  • Implements security programs for all personnel and work sites under their direct control.
  • Ensures SSHE incidents are effectively managed and reported with a critical focus on the medical attention that is provided to the IP.
  • Attends incident investigation exercises as required helping to identify root cause, contributing factors and future mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures operational risks have been assessed and risk mitigation activities have been appropriately implemented and communicated to rig site personnel as appropriate.
  • Coordinates additional risk assessment(s) if new scenarios and/or significant changes occur. Confirms proper documentation and timely close out if any findings.
  • Ensures planned emergency response drills are conducted and learnings evaluated and shared.
  • Ensures the correct up to date documentation pertaining to the planned operations is available both at the work site and with the appropriate contractor(s) as required.
  • Oversees compliance with company procedures and programs, SIMOPS and SSHE procedures.
  • Ensures contractor has appropriate operations and maintenance programs in place and these are implemented for the equipment supplied.
  • Ensures contractor has appropriate critical spares and preventative maintenance programs in place to minimize any potential down time.
  • Ensure contractors have the appropriate certification in place as per industry and company standards.
  • Ensure contractors are aware of and properly handle the hazards associated with their work; and, that their activities are monitored, and feedback is provided to enable improvement through regular written and verbal feedback reviews.
  • Ensures significant changes in plans, procedures equipment, or personnel in key positions receive adequate review and approval.
  • Maintain documentation of completed job handover forms and ensure all relevant parties are aware of the completion of work.

Expected:
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience required in workover rig operations (well work) as a member of a well work team.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, adaptable and willing to work in a multi-national / cultural environment.
  • Flexible enough to work in a demanding strict security environment.
  • Self-starter with a strong drive to improve and problem solve.
  • Level 4 IADC well control (surface stack) (12 months validity)
  • Project Management - demonstrated ability to achieve results by managing and coordinating across functional and operational teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of the operating and construction characteristics of all components in the workover rig systems.
  • Ability to function in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Self-improvement - committed to achieving results
  • Integrity and honesty at all times; and be able to admit errors and sustain transparency.
  • Organizing skills - setting and monitoring own schedule.
  • Min. Computer skills - Microsoft Office word, power point, and excel.
  • Ability to identify and implement new technology to reduce cost & add value to existing processes.
  • Working Knowledge of
    • Artificial lift in depth - ESP / PCP workover
    • Preparation, running & re-completion
    • Well head installation and repair
    • Fishing - conventional and through tubing (both with jointed pipe, slimhole and coil)
    • Milling and whipstock setting
    • Water shut off / packer setting, through tubing work.
    • Slickline - completion / gauge / fishing / wax removal / sleeve shifting
    • Coil Tubing -packer setting / stimulation / fishing / horizontal work
  • Problem solving & Risk management
  • Demonstrable English communication skills; written, oral and comprehension.
  • Arabic speaking
