Job Description:
- Designs, constructs, and modifies medium (ex. >5MVA) electrical systems and facilities with moderate potential impact to safety and production. Examples include large LV (
- Develops control schematics
- Active participant in electrical usage and efficiency studies
- Participates in local project development efforts
- Regularly works on problems in any plant area at the operating location
- Prepares purchase documents for large motors and large or complex electrical equipment packages
- Witnesses tests of large motors and large equipment packages
- Proactively reviews activities to ensure budgets and schedules are met
- Provides counsel and advice to operating and maintenance supervisors on the electrical engineering aspects of equipment and plants
- Participates in incident investigation teams
- Has a working knowledge of and can competently apply national electrical code (PUE), and relevent GOST and IEC standards; source for others on code-related issues. Developing familiarity with relevent API and IEEE standards
- Helps develop electrical worklist and coordinates work for large shutdowns in large operating areas
- Reviews and approves shutdown electrical work orders prepared by less experienced engineers
- Establishes critical path for electrical work on a shutdown
- Monitors expenditures and manages changes
- Collaborates with operations to ensure new equipment is consistent with start-up expectations
- Reviews and implements results of system coordination studies for large systems
- Performs relay coordination studies in small systems
