Job Summary
A Nuclear Outage Specialist is needed for the Nuclear Site Service Group to support the Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) efforts at Surry Power Station. Responsibilities will include Plan, coordinate, analyze and report on station's outages in a manner which effectively utilizes staffing, materials, and equipment to ensure optimum availability, compliance with regulatory and company policies, productivity and safe operating performance. SLR projects will implement major modifications, replacements and upgrades to existing nuclear power plant structures, systems, and components.
This position will coordinate with all plant departments and other fleet sites on various pre-outage planning activities and outage implementation. Identifies work that can be completed in advance of scheduled work outages (e.g., erection of scaffolds, temporary structures, etc.). Coordinates set up of facilities, services, lifting and rigging activities and space allocations. Develops and implements trending of critical and near critical path activities and making recommendations. Provide input into the development of detailed schedules for outages. The Nuclear Outage Specialist will Develop 5-Year Outage plans and schedule and track goals during outages. Develop outage work scopes and plan/coordinate departmentally assigned supplemental outage activities. Conduct pre-, daily and post- outage meetings and prepare detailed weekly, monthly and end of outage reports. Log and track Outage Scope Change Requests (OSCRs) before and during the outage and ensure these are incorporated into the outage schedule via appropriate windows and maintained on the Forced Outage list, when necessary. Review OSCRs to prevent duplication of work activities in the outage schedule and maintain an OSCR log and file. Identify outage-related work orders and required periodic testing. Identify and coordinate special conditions required to perform certain work orders during the outage. Coordinate work and resources with various station and Fleet groups. Prepare outage analysis data for the final outage report. May be assigned to an Outage Control Center position. Participates as an active member of the site Outage Focus Team (OFT).
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
In depth knowledge of Nuclear Outage scheduling processes and procedures required to implement projects to the facility. 5 or more years nuclear projects experience which may include hands on project management experience and or documented experience in the planning and / or implementation of construction projects. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills Strong personnel computer skills including Maximo, SAP, DocTop, Microsoft Office Suite, Plant Asset Management System (PAMS), Primavera P6 Software, and Strong organizational skills. Completion of Nuclear Electrical Development Program (NEDP) or applicable experience is desirable. Must be detail oriented, with planning and organizational skills.
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor
Preferred Discipline(s): Engineering; Maintenance; Work Management
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Completion of a Maintenance Development Program (Electrical, Mechanical, Weld or Instrument and Control) would be preferred.
