Job Overview & Conditions

• The position requires a strong background in welding, cutting, and fitting, with a focus on HVAC manufacturing. This position is also responsible for supporting production, warehousing, and engineering departments.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, vapors, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Welds metal components and parts using specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches.
• Uses electrical currents to create heat and bond metals
• Plans work by interpreting blueprints
• Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
• Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
• Sourcing the materials to be used in the project
• Measuring and cutting materials to specifications
• Welding (MIG/TIG/Arc) materials using the correct materials to join the metals together
• Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
• Familiar with the safe operation of welding and cutting equipment and gas equipment
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
• Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of drive and energy
• Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
• Works well meeting multiple deadlines with the ability to deliver on time
• Completion of other tasks in a timely manner as assigned by direct Supervisor

Requirements

• Must be able to read and follow weld procedures and pass a 6 G GTAW weld test
• Minimum of 2 years welding, cutting, fitting experience
• High School Diploma (technical courses preferred)
• Certified Welder or ability to become certified within first six months of employment
• Must be able to read and understand work orders, drawings, and other written instructions
• Excellent communications skills
• Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job)
