Under the direct supervision of the Training Manager, and overall supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Adult Education & Workforce Development, assists in recruitment, assessment, career advising, retention support, referrals, job development, job placement and post-employment follow-up in order to meet contracted program enrollment, placement and retention goals for grant-funded non-credit Clean Energy Workforce Training Program. Provides case management services to participants enrolled into programs; and maintains accurate attendance and other records required by funding agencies. This is a grant-funded position which could be renewed based on continued grant funding.

  1. Responsible for meeting or exceeding job placement goals as established by the grant funder.
  2. Responsible for recruitment, assessment, interviewing, evaluation and determining job readiness of participants.
  3. Works with participants to develop a career plan in the fields of solar tech, green construction & management, energy efficiency, electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, and/or related fields with pathways to future advancement.
  4. Provides group instruction and individual advising on career exploration, career planning, resume development, job search, job interview skills, and employability skills.
  5. Assists participants with job search and job applications to find suitable employment.
  6. Stays current on available jobs in the industry, vacancies at employer partners, and employer partner expectations.
  7. Advises participants as necessary to resolve issues which may be barriers to course completion and employment.
  8. Maintains constant contact with participants to support their growth.
  9. Assists participants in writing resumes, cover letters, and developing career readiness portfolio.
  10. Collaborates with instructors, other job placement/career development counselors, and program managers and directors as part of a creative team, finding opportunities for further development and continuous improvement of programs.
  11. Works with area employers in the recruitment, training and placement of participants.
  12. Aligns program recruitment, retention and placement efforts with other workforce development and transition to college initiatives of the Division of Business and Community Services.
  13. Maintains accurate attendance records.
  14. Maintains a file for each participant that includes documentation of employment status at time of enrollment, the required registration forms, a record of training services provided, case management notes, placement outcomes, and documentation for new employment and wage gain.
  15. Maintains a database of participant demographic, progression, and employment information as required for status reporting.
  16. Provides all data required to complete reports to the grant funder.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Communications, Human Resources, or closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience and/or training involving career counseling, recruitment, or counseling;
  • Demonstrated outcomes in program recruitment, case management, and job placement for job seekers in Greater Springfield & Holyoke;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; proficiency Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Google applications;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experienced team player with the ability to also work independently; knowledge of the basic work skills required by employers;
  • Understanding of the barriers faced by low income populations, immigrants and refugees, and adult language learners
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Ability to deliver services and instruction in online, hybrid, and in-person formats.

PREFERRED:
  • Familiarity with employers and workforce development agencies in Greater Springfield and Holyoke, MA region;
  • Knowledge and experience of the Clean Energy employment sector;
  • Experience working with adults (ages 21+) in a workforce training program;
  • Bi-lingual Spanish;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Standards.

Full Time, MCCC Unit position

Salary: Grade 4;Salary Range: $60,730 - $68,762/year; Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full State benefits.

Funding Source:

Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Grant(Funded through June, 2026. Possible renewal based on availability of grant funds.)

Hours: 37.5 hrs. /week
