ROLE AND PURPOSE: To serve as HVAC Technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Texas drivers license and satisfactory driving record
- High school diploma required
- Four years of experience with commercial building HVAC systems or technical certification from approved trade school or college.
- EPA Universal Certification required. Applicant may be given up to 90 days of employment to obtain based on accepted job offer.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- HVAC certification or training preferred
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of facility mechanical and electrical systems
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with K-12 educational facilities preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Assists the district's maintenance department, designed to provide world-class facilities to enhance instruction
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
- Models behavior that promotes a positive organizational climate
- Provides assistance in implementation of maintenance department goals and initiatives
- Assists in advancing the mission, vision, goals, and strategic plan for the district
- Provides effective and service-oriented communication with staff and school personnel
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION IMPROVEMENT
- Performs programming and on-site repairs to improve the learning environment
- Actively supports the efforts of others to achieve the district's goals and implement the strategic plan
- Maintains an effective system of communication among department staff and individual school staff
- Generates communication and reporting necessary to improve facility maintenance
ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
- Provides support to HVAC Foreman and Supervisor to address departmental functions
- Provide support to campuses to address facility maintenance
- Troubleshoots mechanical and automation problems
- Assists in repairs to make HVAC more effective
- Additional responsibilities, as needed, to advance maintenance
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Maintains a working knowledge of district policies, procedures, and practices
- Helps facilitate communication and coordination with campuses
- Provides support during meetings with departmental, campus, and administrative staff
STUDENT MANAGEMENT
- Assists in organization of maintenance to meet the needs of the school district
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Seeks, accepts, and responds to evaluative feedback from subordinates, peers, and supervisors
- Assumes personal responsibility for enhancing competencies through staff development
- Exhibits good judgment and logical thinking
- Continually improves and updates knowledge of the District's facilities and maintenance initiatives

MISCELLANEOUS
- Performs other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor and outdoor work environment; subject to noise from equipment operation; regular exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, oil/grease.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent walking, standing, crouching, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching overhead and horizontally
- Occasionally move objects up to 75 pounds; ascend/descend ladders, scaffolding ramps, poles
- Use of tools/equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
- Regularly operate a light truck or van
- Work for sustained periods of time maintaining attention to detail
