JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for Mechanical Fitters to join our team for the upcoming shutdown at the Orbost Gas Plant in Orbost also opportunities in wider Victoria commencing February 2025.

The successful candidates will be a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter, preferably with oil and gas experience and will have the basic tools required to complete their allocated tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be required to:
  • Understand and work to Permit System
  • Ensure all JSA's (Job Safety Analysis) are reviewed and understood, and all associated paperwork is satisfactorily completed to permit and Wood Quality Assurance requirements
  • Maintain good conduct and work harmoniously with other employees using fundamental interpersonal skills required of the work setting
  • Plan all work considering changing conditions and to report progress accurately
  • Read and understand detailed drawings including isometric, lay out and P&ID's or specifications to plan and complete the task and ascertain the materials and equipment required
  • Set levels and competent in using such equipment for level setting
  • Undertake maintenance and installation of plant and equipment
  • Fitting and assembling of parts to plant and equipment
  • Check the accuracy and quality of assembled equipment
  • Conduct fault finding of mechanical equipment along with other maintenance tasks as required


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trade Qualified
  • Experienced in general fabrication welding and machine shop practices
  • Fixed Plant maintenance and tolerant critical installations experience
  • Interpretation of P&IDs, Isometrics and Electrical Schematics
  • Experienced with Permit to Work and LOTO procedures
  • Computer literate
  • EWP High Risk Work licence preferred
  • Flexible with a can-do attitude
  • A strong safe work ethic, along with an excellent understanding of technical and compliance issues
  • All employees are required to work safely while conducting their required tasks, and are also authorised and expected to stop the job if the situation arises
