What role you will play in our team

Imperial provides job opportunities for local Sahtu beneficiaries to work and be mentored directly on the job site. Role is a 1-year term with option to extend to a maximum of a 2-year internship program. Role provides paid training and work experience in the petroleum industry at our Norman Wells Operations.

As an initial assignment you will train as a member of our operating staff to gain practical hands-on experience with operating and safety procedures. On-the-job experience will be supplemented with additional related formal training. You will begin in plant operations. You will be required to work on your own without direct supervision following the initial training period. Safe and efficient operation of the plant facilities is a key component of this position.

What you will do

  • Understand and abide by all safety rules and standards, report hazards and assume responsibility for the safe operation of your assigned unit, company vehicle and tools if applicable
  • Support Plant / Field Operations with pro-active reporting stewardship, site safety loss prevention observations, and support for site safety, security, and environmental programs
  • Understand and abide by applicable government regulations (e.g. Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, etc.)
  • Participate in safety programs/meetings and attend training
  • Daily inspection and surveillance of wells and production facilities
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on associated equipment

About you

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record are required

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • 4th Class Power Engineer certificate is an asset for Plant Operations
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to work shift work
  • Able to communicate effectively with team members

Start date: Q3, 2025

Work Term: 1 Year Paid Internship, with potential to extend additional year. Possibility of full-time employment offered upon successful completion of the program and an available position.

Location: Norman Wells, NT

Eligibility to work in Canada
