What's the role

The Relief Operator position provides relief for the Texas Operations - Pasadena/MTBV East. The Relief Operator's Home Position will be in Pasadena, primarily the Dry Gas/Chemical group. While not providing active relief and performing day-to-day operator duties, the Relief Operator will be rotating at all locations to maintain current training, as well as support to personnel and business needs.

This position requires safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pumps, compressors, safety critical equipment, various types of valves, applications for rounds, sampling skids, etc.

Accountabilities:
  • Monitor system pressures, flows, and temperatures to make and validate valve line ups and to perform surveillance of the facilities' various types of equipment
  • The successful candidate must be committed to operational excellence, display sound judgment, and possess the ability to react quickly and effectively to abnormal operating conditions
  • Facilitate crude oil, dry gas, and chemical system movements to ensure on time, correct amount, and on spec delivery of hydrocarbons to customers
  • Work collaboratively with Craft/AIG/Engineering/HSSE
  • Understand and follow the Local Operating Procedures
  • Assist with review and updates to the Local Operating Procedures
  • Complete all required training on time
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures
  • Regulatory compliance-Facility surveillance and security
  • System and equipment monitoring
  • Work closely with Control Center and Scheduling personnel
  • Release prevention
  • Maintain facility logs and documentation
  • Actively participate in safety meetings
  • Courteous interface with connecting carriers and customers
  • Minimize measurement loss/gain on systems.
  • Permit and oversee active work in the Texas area
  • Perform month end measurement tasks, such as closing
  • Assist the team in performing in-depth troubleshooting of compressors, furnace, dehy, metering, plc, and various types of equipment
  • Must stay up to date on mandatory E-Learnings, F2F Training, DOT Qualifications, Site Specific, KSAs, etc.
  • Responsible for console operating duties and field activities as it relieves multiple positions throughout Texas

What we need from you
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience or 2-year technical degree or equivalent
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Positive safety attitude-Ability to react quickly and effectively during abnormal conditions
  • Ability to meet schedule requirements
  • Commitment to the company core values-Understand and meet customer needs

The rate for this position is $45.37 - $47.85. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
