The Lead Manufacturing Specialist - Material Planner will coordinate and expedite the flow of materials (from internal and external suppliers) according to production schedules. In this role, you will plan and schedule material/production needs.

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton-known widely as the birthplace of aviation-where the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 27 acres right off Interstate 75.

At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities
  • M anage and coordinate materials to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials to meet manufacturing needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements based on production plans.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Implement strategies to reduce inventory costs while maintaining production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Address any issues related to material quality, delivery delays, or shortages.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and quality teams to align material planning with production goals.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Analyze material usage trends and production data to improve planning accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline material planning processes and improve efficiency.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste and optimize workflows.
  • Ensure all material planning activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of material handling and planning.
  • Provides informal guidance to new team members.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in material planning)
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience with ERP Systems and Material Management


Additional Information
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
  • This role will site onsite at the Vandalia, OH facility

  • Knowledge of supply chain management and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
