Health Insurance (medical, dental, vision) -The City pays the eintire cost of employee only health insurance for the base plan. Higher levels of health coverage and dependent coverage is available at the employee's option; the City pays part of the cost of this additional coverage.
Life Insurance - The City pays the total cost of employee life insurance. Amount of coverage is one to three times salary, based on job classification.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) - The City pays the total cost for employee AD&D. Amount of coverage is one times salary.
Long-Term Disability - The City pays the total cost of long-term disability insurance. Amount of coverage is 60% of salary.
Retirement - Our 401a pension plan requires contributions by both the City and the employee.
Paid Time Off
Paid Time Off (PTO) Leave may be used for vacation, personal illness, funeral Leave/attendance, illness of a family member or other personal business.
Generous leave accruals with carry over capability.
Short-Term Disability Leave
Short-Term Disability (STD) can be used for extended personal illness requiring the employee to be absent more than three (3) days (with acceptable medical documentation).
All full-time non-uniformed non-union eligible employees earn STD at the rate of six (6) days per year.
After five (5) years of service, an employee will receive 2% of the STD account (maximum 1,000 hours) per years of service, upon termination of employment.
Longevity
Longevity pay will be paid at the rate of $4 per month for each year of service up to and including the fifth (5th) year and $6 per month for each year of service beginning at six (6) years and for each year thereafter.

Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects construction of commercial and residential buildings in all stages of construction to ensure that plumbing fixtures, materials and installations are in compliance with all applicable City and State Plumbing Codes.
- Inspects plumbing and gas systems for remodeling projects and additions to buildings to ensure compliance with all applicable plumbing codes.
- Inspects pipes and connections to ensure that the type and size of the material used are in compliance with all applicable codes and that connections were properly completed.
- Inspects residences for code compliance and unsafe plumbing conditions as requested; notifies owners of violations found; notifies utility companies to remove service for dangerous violations.
- Inspects commercial buildings for plumbing facilities designed for use by handicapped individuals as required by City ordinance.
- Answers questions and provides information to citizens regarding Departmental operations and procedures.
- Receives calls requesting inspections; reviews permits to ensure that proper permit and inspection fees have been paid.
- Prepares a daily route and list of inspections to be completed.
- Issues a stop order for installations not in compliance with applicable codes; attaches a stop work card to the building permit listing defects which must be corrected and notifies the plumber or contractor verbally, if possible.
- Reinspects initially denied projects for compliance with code after a reinspection fee is paid.
- Collects evidence of code violations and reviews cases with the supervisor before issuance of warrants or citations; issues approved warrants or citations to persons responsible for code violations.
- Reviews licenses of persons performing plumbing activities at construction sites to ensure proper licensing; notifies appropriate State agencies of persons performing plumbing activities without proper license.
- Maintains a daily log listing the number and types of inspections, projects approved and defects requiring a stop order.
- Answers questions and provides information about Plumbing Codes for plumbers, contractors and members of the public.
- Operates a computer to enter and receive data relating to code numbers and inspections.
- Operates a City pool automobile in the performance of essential job functions.

- Must possess an Arkansas State License as a Journeyman Plumber before employment AND possess certification as an Arkansas State Plumbing Inspector from the Arkansas Department of Health within one (1) year of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. OR
- Must possess certification as an Arkansas State Plumbing Inspector from the Arkansas Department of Health before employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.AND
- Must possess Citation Authority Certification within one (1) year of employment and maintain certifications for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
