Position Summary: The Production Utility Technician will learn and perform all production positions to be a relief for positions in cheese making, packaging, palletizing, and processing. This position will perform duties efficiently and accurately in a safe, sanitary, and productive manner by following standard operating procedures while adhering to Safe Quality Food guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices. This position will perform responsibilities as assigned based on daily needs. The Production Utility Technician may act as a back-up to the Production Supervisor in their absence.
Responsibilities:
1. Learns the safe and proper implementation of role, tasks and duties and performs cheese making, packaging, palletizing, and processing positions as requested by Production Supervisor.
2. Learns and follows Good Manufacturing Practices.
3. Learns and follows Good Sanitation practices when handling equipment.
4. Performs set-up, start-up, and changeover procedures for equipment, as needed.
5. Conducts and documents quality checks.
6. Monitors and communicates any process or product abnormalities to Production Supervisor.
7. Fills in for breaks, vacations and absences in packaging, palletizing, and processing positions.
8. Observes and reports possible equipment maintenance to Production Supervisor.
9. May act as back-up to the Production Supervisor in their absence.
a. Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory standards are achieved daily by following SOP's, SSOP's, and GMP's.
b. Plans and coordinates production to ensure efficient operations and problem solve as needed.
c. Reviews and completes production documentation, accurately and timely, including but not limited to charts, make sheets, and sanitation logs.
d. Maintains traceability on all products from ingredients through finished products.
e. Coordinates production scheduling.
• Determines employee work schedules, including assisting in the approval of requests for time off and assisting in the coordination of replacements to ensure appropriate staffing.
• Collaborates with maintenance, quality, and other internal and external customers to ensure production and overall company goals are achieved.
• Schedules and ensures the completion of audits and housekeeping to ensure audit preparedness.
f. Serves as a resource to all employees in production or other departments.
• Inspects materials, products, and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Works closely with Quality and Lab on product quality and in determining if product is to be put on hold or discarded.
• Assists in problem solving.
g. Communicate with other shift Production Supervisors regularly to coordinate operations and activities.
h. Completes Supervisor Daily Report to communicate staffing, safety, quality, production, equipment, and other shift activities.
i. Investigates and completes documentation timely regarding employee reports of accidents, injuries and near misses.
j. Maintain confidentiality of all company and employee information.
k. Assists with equipment inspections as needed.
10. Performs and assists in other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. High school diploma or general education degree and experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably dairy, is required.
2. Cheese Maker license and Pasteurization certification or ability to obtain license and certification is required.
3. A focus on employee safety and food safety is required.
4. A willingness to learn, attention to detail and a positive attitude as a team player is required.
5. Knowledgeable of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices, SOP's and SSOP's for food processing is preferred.

1. Ability to meet the demands of the position per work screen protocol is required.
