Job Description Summary

The Test Enabling Systems Mechanical Design Sub-Section Manager leads a team of design engineers who are responsible for designing mechanical and structural systems required to interface between engine and facility, or upgrading facilities to meet requirements to successfully execute engine test campaigns. The Sub-Section Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In the role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading a team of engineers designing mechanical and structural systems required to upgrade facilities and execute testing across a broad range of engine programs. Responsible for mechanical design and construction of test facilities.
  • Manages a team of engineers with a wide range of experience in the field. Provides leadership and technical direction for the team. Influences the development of strategy across the section and department, including control of resources.
  • Establish team goals within the framework of section and department business objectives and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Maintains broad awareness within group to assure technical excellence, timely completion of projects, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer needs. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems. Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within the team. Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel.
  • Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited university or college.
  • 5+ years' experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment
