Mechanical Design Engineer - Test Systems
As a test systems mechanical design engineer, you will work alongside electrical and software engineers to design and develop automated test systems (ATEs) for design verification and production testing of electronic avionics assemblies. As a key member of a dedicated cross-functional team, you will leverage your engineering expertise and creativity to generate the best and optimal implementation of our automated test equipment. Your ability to analyze and implement solutions will be essential in delivering impactful results.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform mechanical design, interconnect evaluations, mechanical component selection, and tolerance stack-up analysis activities for test equipment supporting complex electronic aerospace products
• Create detailed designs, including CAD models, diagrams, drawings, and bills of material.
• Conduct design and work-product reviews to ensure quality and compliance with requirements.
• Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM), maintainability, and testability concepts in designs.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials and components for designs.
• Develop design packages, conceptual designs, technical specifications.
• Collaborate closely with New Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering teams to ensure alignment and successful execution.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices to drive efficiency, enhance quality, and minimize waste.
• Contribute to the company's objectives on process improvement and lean manufacturing.
• Provide timely communication on significant issues, risks, or developments impacting project objectives.
• Manage personal time and assigned resources effectively to meet schedule, cost, and quality targets.
• Participate in cross-functional teams addressing organizational initiatives and broader challenges.
• Manage third-party vendors, including mechanical design, fabrication, and machining services, to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of designs and processes to support traceability and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience in engineering dealing with design of complex equipment
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
• Proficiency in using CAD software
Desired Characteristics:
• Proven experience in designing and developing test equipment, including knowledge of industry standards and best practices
• Proficiency in model and drawing creation using Siemens NX.
• Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, such as PTC Windchill.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards, materials, and processes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
• Ability to document, plan, and execute programs with attention to detail and precision.
• Strong time management skills to meet task schedules, cost targets, and quality objectives.
• Application of problem solving and root cause corrective action tools and experience in the Aerospace/Avionics industry.
The base pay range for this position is $79,800.00 - 99,700.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 10/31/25 .
