Job Summary: Metal mechanics are responsible for fitting, installing, and finishing of sheet metal and insulation around obstructions and pipes in industrial environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Fit insulation and metal around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
• Install insulation on equipment and piping.
• Measure materials and objects for installation and assembly.
• Determine the amounts of and types of insulation needed, as well as methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use.
• Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
• Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Follow all GCI's, Contractor's, and governmental safety requirements.
• Perform work in accordance with Contractor Specifications.
• Work off scissor lifts, boom lifts, and scaffolding.
• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:

• Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Must be able to understand oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams.
• Ability to work from elevated areas, such as scissor lifts, boom lifts and scaffolds.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
• Must be able to climb stairs, stand, crawl, bend, and kneel often in confined spaces for extended periods of time. Will be required to lift up to 75 pounds at time.
• Must be able to wear a respirator while performing the job.
• Work in an indoor and outdoor environment including field, yard, and shop locations.
• High school education or equivalent.
• 4+ years of sheet metal and insulation experience preferred.
