The Surface Operator is responsible for equipment operation as well as lump coal hand screening functions to support mining operations. Position also requires willingness and ability to work outside the cab on a variety of physical tasks as assigned. (not an all-inclusive job description)

Experience and abilities you will need:

• Driver's License in good standing (Required)
• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
• Heavy equipment experience, operating skid steer and front-end loaders preferred but not required.
• Must be flexible and available to work any assigned shift-including days, swing shifts, weekends, and overnight (graveyard) shifts-as part of our 24/7 operational schedule.
• MSHA Certification (Preferred)
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds on occasion.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, non-DOT physical, and DMV check.
• Must live within 60 miles of Hesperus Co. or be willing to relocate.

16 Hour MSHA surface certification required. If selected training is free of charge, but you do not get paid to attend training as that would be your training to work on a federal mine site.

Positions start through a staffing agency at $22/hr. If you are successful, after approximately 90 days you would be converted to a GCC employee and would be paid $30.46/hr.
