PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setup and operate CNC Machines under minimal instruction and supervision.
- Validate machine programs and work instructions before machining to assure accuracy of operations under minimal supervision.
- Detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required and have the ability to correct these issues to meet the production team's goal.
- Set up and operate CNC Machines for first article to prove out program and set up instructions.
- Document actions by completing work order routings.
- Proof programs without assistance.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Work as a team player with others in a demanding fast-paced environment to meet frequently changing production.
- Report problems to responsible management levels.
- Meeting established company production goals.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to NOV safety policies and procedures.
- Process remaining parts while conducting constant checks and inspections to ensure dimensional and surface finish requirements are met for the entire part run.
- Proof programs without assistance.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functional knowledge of DMG Mori slant bed lathe and vertical mill operation utilizing FANUC controlled CNC machines.
- Ability to setup machine and tooling, load/unload parts, enter work and tool offsets, determine optimal manufacturing plan, develop required NC program, and execute program.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- HS Diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational education (commercial or shop training, technical school) preferred.
- 5-7 years of traditional machining experience, or comparable experience with trade school.
- Ability to learn and work with Conversational Programming and numeric control Programming along with understanding G&M Codes
- Experience setting up and operating computer and mechanically controlled machine tools such as CNC lathe, mill etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, clothing, glasses, goggles, respirator/face mask, ear plugs/muffs and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work potentially will be performed in areas where harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing chemicals). Per HSE requirements, you could be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedule, however this position is primarily 2nd shift.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.
- Demonstrated ability and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments, including but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
- Read and Interpret engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and work order routings.
- Ability to hold tight machining tolerances.
- Understand various tooling technology.
- Select cutting tools without assistance.
- Possess Math skills that can be applied to figure out shop mathematical problems, ability to utilize handbook formulas, basic geometry, and trigonometry.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, and uses.
- Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Ability to develop NC programs as required to manufacture part to engineering requirements.
PHYSICAL/NON-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to operate a machine eight (8) to twelve (12) hours per day.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to listen to machine and tooling to ensure the machine and tooling are operating properly.
- The employee must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds during set-ups.
- While doing set-ups and verifying measurements employee will routinely bend.
