Job Description Summary

The Edison Works Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality and process control in the manufacturing of aerospace parts. This role will focus on driving continuous improvement, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve GE Aerospace's Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Quality Assurance and Control

  • Monitor and improve product quality by implementing robust quality control processes and systems.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards for part manufacturing, ensuring compliance with GE Aerospace specifications and industry regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Conduct inspections and audits of manufacturing processes, materials, and finished products to identify and address non-conformances.
  • Analyze defects and non-conformances using tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5 Whys, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.

Process Control

  • Establish and maintain process control systems to ensure consistent production quality and minimize variability.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes using statistical process control (SPC) and other data-driven methodologies.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and quality during product design and development phases.
  • Validate and qualify manufacturing processes to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools such as Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Hoshin Kanri to reduce waste and improve quality. Drive defect reduction efforts to achieve lower Defects per Unit (DPU) and improve first-pass yield. Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable aerospace industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of quality processes, inspections, and audits.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing findings.

Training and Collaboration

  • Train and mentor manufacturing personnel on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain, and leadership) to address quality challenges and implement solutions.
  • Communicate quality metrics and performance to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in m onitoring and improving product quality by implementing robust quality control processes and systems. ) + Minimum of 3 years of (m onitoring and improving product quality by implementing robust quality control processes and systems. )
