JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage night operations at the plant
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas of manufacturing. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Review upcoming job management and night crew on a regular basis.
  • Continually review with leadman their job orders and work together to create cost saving measures and/or ideas to improve quality and service.
  • Coordinating with the production, maintenance, manufacturing, quality, shipping and receiving areas.
  • Directly manage night shift leads and non-exempt employees.
  • Monitors staffing needs to allow company objectives to be met.
  • Ensures a positive environment is maintained to allow for maximum employee involvement through department meetings, open door policy, team activities, and empowerment.
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment in accordance with local HSE procedures.
  • Lead the drive for improvement in operational areas such as compliance, production throughput, quality, and costs throughout the manufacturing and warehousing process.
  • Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to ensure all employees are properly informed about policies, procedures, location performance, programs, work schedules, etc.
  • Maintain a high degree of inventory accuracy throughout the entire warehouse/shipping/receiving department
  • Ensures timely and accurate receiving or put away daily.
  • Coordinate with order management to ensure shipments are going out on a daily basis to customers, and receiving and put away done in timely and correct manner.
  • Reconcile and age pick tickets vs. packed boxes to ensure shipments are flowing timely and accurately with no duplicated picks.
  • Supervise; Train all full time or contract/temporary employees to ensure our (SOPs) procedures are met and all employees work in accordance with NOV Code of Conduct (Company Policy).
  • Aid in implementation of new warehouse/shipping/receiving technology and processes.
  • Investigate shipping discrepancies for root cause and corrective action recommendations.
  • Focus on safety, cost management and business growth in all interactions and directives.
  • Carry out job requirements in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
  • Responsible for and the authority to maintain and promote a safe working environment in accordance with the appropriate HSE procedure(s).
  • Participate in actions which promote a safety and quality culture within NOV.
  • Ensure compliance of the company's overall objectives.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Warehouse function and machine shop processes.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Forklift certified
  • Manufacturing management experience
  • Must have and be able to use analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to evaluate alternative solutions.
  • First Responder
  • 1 -3 year(s) of experience in supervising and directing personnel; preferably in a shipping, receiving and/or warehouse environment.
  • ERP or MRP system experience preferably JDE
  • In-depth knowledge of machining processes, metals, and warehousing gained via experience working in a machine shop and or warehouse (minimum of 5 years).
  • Experience in a Machine Shop Management / Supervisory Role (minimum of 2 years).
  • APICS and/or LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt Certified preferred, or must have willingness to obtain if not certified
  • Experience with raw materials, machining processes, forgings and castings, and secondary operations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.


Must be able to stand and work in adverse conditions (outside in all types of weather or inside in a manufacturing environment) for a minimum of 8 hours. Must be able to use complex measuring instruments (tape measure, caliper, micrometer, thread gauge, indicator etc.) Must be able to do extensive walking, bending, stooping, and moderate to heaving lifting (minimum 50 lbs.)
