JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sets up and runs grinders per direction, following blueprints, programs and job layouts.
• Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions them in machine spindles as specified.
• Manipulates controls and enters commands to specified set point and to start machine.
• Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Performs first piece inspection using precision measuring equipment and makes needed adjustments to maintain prescribed tolerances.
• Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
• Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
• Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• One year Machining certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be able to create your own set-up
• Advanced knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an advanced understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
• Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
