Dowty Propellers, a GE Aerospace company specializing in the repair and overhaul of propellers for C130J aircraft, Dash 8 aircraft, and LCAC hovercraft, is seeking a Production Control Associate to help direct part flow through the shop, driving improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
The Production Control Associate supports smooth flow through the manufacturing process by tracking and coordinating parts, concessions, work-in-process (WIP), and vendor processing. This role ensures data accuracy in production systems, drives timely communication with engineering and suppliers, and escalates issues within their scope to protect Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Part Tracking and Coordination
- Monitor part status from release through completion using ERP/MES and shop floor tools.
- Coordinate material availability with planning, stores, and buyers to minimize shortages and delays.
- Maintain accurate part records (quantities, status, routing steps) in production control systems.
- Identify and signal risks to delivery dates due to part shortages or delays
Concessions and Dispositions Management
- Follow up on aging concessions to drive timely disposition and minimize WIP stagnation.
- Maintain a log or dashboard of open concessions and required actions by function (Engineering, Quality, Operations).
- Ensure data completeness and accuracy for new concessions (part number, serial/lot, operation, defect description, etc.).
- Track all concessions and dispositions from initiation through closure.
Engineering Communication
- Serve as a point of contact between Production/Quality and Engineering for concession-related questions.
- Submit and route concession requests to Engineering per standard process.
- Track Engineering responses and ensure dispositions (use-as-is, rework, scrap, repair) are clearly documented.
- Communicate engineering decisions back to cell leaders, technicians, and quality for execution.
WIP Tracking and Location Accuracy
- Track WIP status across all relevant operations, cells, and process steps.
- Update WIP locations in systems to reflect physical location on the shop floor (e.g., cell, queue, vendor, MRB).
- Perform regular WIP audits to verify physical vs. system locations and resolve discrepancies.
- Support cycle counts or WIP inventories as required by standard work.
Issue Escalation
- Identify issues within scope (e.g., missing parts, delayed concessions, incorrect WIP status, vendor delays).
- Escalate problems promptly to the appropriate leader (Production Control, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Sourcing) following tier/management routines.
- Provide clear, concise summaries of the issue, impact, and needed support when escalating.
- Track escalated items through closure to ensure actions are completed.
Vendor Processing Coordination
- Track parts sent to vendors for processing (e.g., special processes, repair, coating, machining).
- Maintain accurate records of parts at vendors, including quantities, dates sent, promised dates, and status.
- Coordinate with Sourcing/Suppliers to ensure on-time return of parts.
- Update WIP and location data to reflect vendor processing steps.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution
- This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in production control, manufacturing, logistics, or materials, or strong coordination/administrative experience with data tracking
- Proficiency with ERP/MES systems, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to read basic production documents (work orders, routers, travelers)
- Strong written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams and suppliers
- Proven organization, follow-through, and time management in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in regulated manufacturing (e.g., aerospace, automotive) and familiarity with concession/MRB and nonconformance workflows (preferred)
- Working knowledge of lean/continuous improvement (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, ownership/accountability, problem solving, and collaboration skills
