About the Opportunity

For a number of decades, we have been at the forefront of technical, scientist and project management support across the nuclear lifecycle. We are now increasingly supporting our clients in planning, strategy and business case support for their projects, including major power plant and associated infrastructure, and new nuclear reactor designs (SMR, AMR, Fusion). These skills are vital to our clients to inform decision making, build confidence and progress nuclear programmes.

We would like to recruit an individual as a Senior or Principal Consultant (depending on experience) in Strategic Planning.

You will be a key part of our team, supporting a wide range of advisory and delivery projects, for a variety of clients across the nuclear industry, including new build projects, SMR and AMRs, existing civil and defence plant, fusion reactor design and decommissioning.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading/supporting on project strategy and planning across the nuclear lifecycle.
  • Establish and manage relationships with clients to ensure buy-in to an agreed approach or solution.
  • Have an awareness of our broader capability, with an ability to draw in these skills to further enhance our client offer.
  • The development and compelling delivery of high impact presentations to clients and their stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching and guidance for junior staff, ensuring that this capability and knowledge is sustained for our business.
  • Support business development and contribute to bids and proposals.
  • You will need to be self-motivated, driven to understand and succeed, demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to provide compelling arguments and justifications to underpin your work.
  • We are a business that is growing quickly and supporting a variety of exciting projects to various clients in the nuclear industry - the ideal candidate needs to be someone with a good broad ranging technical background across the nuclear industry, who is used to taking the lead, can provide clear direction and leadership, and has a demonstrable track record of contributing to projects effectively within a highly regulated environment.
  • We are looking for candidates who can encourage and develop others in the team whilst being accustomed to taking a hands-on approach and leading on complex challenges.
  • We operate a hybrid working model, and the role can be based at any of our UK offices, combined with working from home. Some presence in our North-West offices in Warrington would be preferred. There will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require.

We are seeking candidate with some of the following skills, experiences and qualifications:
  • An undergraduate degree in a suitable discipline (or equivalent experiential learning) - this role could suit scientific, engineering, or more general financial, commercial and managerial disciplines.
  • Experience with business planning and estimating.
  • Experience of developing strategy with clients, and managing key stakeholders, including influencing the strategy for the delivery of programmes and deliverability around major infrastructure schemes.
  • Experience in delivering under HM Treasury Green Book methodology.
  • Clear Leadership qualities with an ability to lead diverse teams towards an outcome.
  • An ability to apply innovative thinking.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently acquire and apply new knowledge.
  • Experience working directly in or with Government, or for interfacing with Government agencies.
  • Experience of major engineering delivery on EPC projects or reactor projects.
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plant and associated build phases.
