About the job:
Kent is looking for a Senior Planner to be based in Houston, TX.

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically competent EPC Planner to join our team. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules for EPC projects, including small capital, proposals, and large capital projects.

The role requires strong independent planning skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the capability to generate schedules using key engineering documents and the project scope of work. The ideal candidate should be able to create schedules from scratch, based on project parameters and timelines provided by stakeholders.
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed project schedules for EPC projects, including small capital, proposals, and large capital initiatives.
  • Generate schedules independently using key engineering documents and the project scope of work, ensuring alignment with project objectives, scope, and timelines.
  • Interface with project teams to gather necessary information and ensure schedules reflect accurate project progress and expectations.
  • Utilize Primavera P6 to build, update, and maintain project schedules but must demonstrate the ability to plan independently beyond relying on software.
  • Ensure integration of project schedules with cost, resource, and risk management processes.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to project management, highlighting risks, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct schedule analysis, identifying potential delays or issues and proposing mitigative actions.
  • Support in planning resource allocations, critical path analysis, and forecasting of project milestones.
  • Visit project sites as necessary to collaborate with on-site teams and validate project progress.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in planning and scheduling for EPC projects.
  • Strong ability to generate schedules using key engineering documents and the project scope of work.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 but should demonstrate strong independent planning capabilities beyond software tools.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites when necessary.
  • Prior experience with industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.

Communication:
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
  • A bility to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
