This position reports to

Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. The work model for the role is onsite in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Please note that no relocation assistance or stipend will be offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location. Candidates are expected to manage their own commuting arrangements. You will be mainly accountable for: • Assist in development of future cell layouts and moves - CAD Layouts • Assist in process improvements and cost reduction projects • Assist Mfg. Engineers with design and implementation of fixtures, tooling, accessories, etc. • Assist in development of new equipment and processes to include: procurement, justification, specifications, runoffs, installs, startup and debug, MOC/PMOC • Assist in Mfg. Engineers with creating Manufacturing Instructions, Standard Work & Training Documents • Participate in Lean manufacturing teams • Conduct time studies and help with routings. • Data entry and maintenance of engineering items within SAP operating system. • Assist in development of standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation. • Confer with engineers, production personnel, maintenance, or others to resolve machine problems or malfunctions • Must be able to work effectively with operators and other manufacturing support staff to solve problems and improve productivity • Support all company initiatives and policies including: Safety, Quality, Operational Excellence, etc.

Qualifications for the role

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, within the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress
