Fluor & Energy Materials, an Orbia business is hiring for a Mechanical HVAC Specialist III, based out of Houston, Texas, USA.
Position Overview
The HVAC Specialist III is a senior-level technical position responsible for supporting our R&D team's development of advanced HVAC refrigerant technologies. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with engineers to set up and conduct experiments on HVAC systems, fabricate custom parts and components as needed, and ensure proper electrical connections and safety protocols are in place. You will also serve as a technical resource for the sales team when working with customers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional to apply their expertise in support of cutting-edge R&D initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineering staff in setting up and conducting HVAC experiments and testing.
- Fabricate custom HVAC parts and components as needed.
- Connect and configure data acquisition systems and electrical equipment for testing.
- Maintain and lead safe work practices for experimental activities using potentially hazardous materials.
- Engage with local HVAC trade groups and serve as an industry spokesperson.
- Provide technical support to the sales team when working with customers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of experience as an HVAC technician or specialist.
- Optional: HVAC trade school certification or equivalent.
- Optional: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical technology.
- Proficient in HVAC fabrication, welding, brazing, and electrical work.
- Strong background in measurement techniques and standard laboratory practices.
- Willingness to work with hazardous materials after proper safety training.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Nice to have: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
