Lead Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to oversee a team of quantity surveyors within a major project in the energy sector. This role requires expertise in quantity surveying practices, contract administration, and financial oversight, ensuring the project remains commercially efficient and contractually compliant.
Key Responsibilities

Quantity Surveying Leadership & Best Practices

Implement and uphold project-specific quantity surveying procedures.

Ensure consistency in quantity surveying standards while incorporating best practices.

Provide technical guidance and act as a subject matter expert on contractual and commercial matters.

Team Management & Development
-
Plan, recruit, train, and mentor a team of quantity surveyors.

Ensure resource availability aligns with project timelines and performance requirements.

Work closely with project control teams to resolve quantity surveying-related challenges efficiently.

Contract Administration & Commercial Management

Ensure strict adherence to contract terms and protect project financial margins.

Support contractual claims and negotiations to optimise cost control.

Conduct commercial negotiations with internal and external stakeholders transparently and diligently.

Technical & Financial Oversight

Verify subcontractor submissions, including remeasurement quantities, cost-plus documentation, and custom clearance records.

Conduct material reconciliations and assess time & materials work to finalise cost implications.

Work closely with engineering, construction, planning, and quality teams to track progress and identify potential variations.

Project Reporting & Closure

Maintain up-to-date records of change orders, progress updates, and financial documentation.

Support project close-out activities, including final account settlements and data archiving.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications
-
Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Marine, or a related field within the Oil & Gas sector.

Experience
-
Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry, ideally within FPSO or shipbuilding projects.

Technical Skills
-
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with advanced Excel functions.

Experience with AutoCAD and Primavera is an advantage.

Strong contractual and negotiation skills with a deep understanding of industry-standard terms.
