Join Balfour Beatty as a Managing Quantity Surveyor, where the role for the initial eight months will be predominantly focused on subcontract procurement. You'll set the strategy, run end-to-end tenders and awards for multi-disciplinary packages, and provide strong commercial leadership through contract administration and delivery. • Lead commercial management: Forecast and control costs; manage valuations, payments, liabilities and variations; prepare cost/value reconciliations and support earned value reporting.
  • Engage stakeholders and utilities: Work closely with delivery teams, the client and statutory undertakers to surface risks early, resolve issues and secure timely approvals.
  • Report and govern well: Present concise commercial reports and risk registers; adhere to company governance and maximise LEAN/digital opportunities.
Who we're looking for

What you'll bring
  • Significant subcontract procurement experience in major civils/highways, including hands on production of contracts, T&Cs and scopes.
  • Strong NEC knowledge/experience with a track record in change management (EWs/CEs, entitlement).
  • Proven leadership across pre and post contract stages for packages up to c. £10m, ideally with utilities interfaces and statutory undertaker liaison.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation and communication skills; ability to lead and mentor surveyors in a fast paced, multi stakeholder environment.
  • Sc/MSc in Quantity Surveying; professional membership MRICS / MCInstCES / MCIOB (or working towards); CSCS (Professionally Qualified Person).
