We're delivering our £1.2bn package on the Lower Thames Crossing-featuring 43 bridges/viaducts, 17km of complex highways construction, major utility diversions, and an industry-leading approach to low-carbon delivery.
Join Balfour Beatty as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on the Lower Thames Crossing-43 bridges (including viaducts), 17km of complex highways, major utility diversions, and an industry-leading approach to carbon reduction. You'll shape multi-disciplinary subcontract packages that keep this flagship project moving, with the role being predominantly subcontract -procurement focused for the initial eight months.

What you'll be doing

- Make a visible impact on a nationally significant programme that will transform connectivity for decades.
- Own major packages from strategy to final account, working hand-in-hand with delivery teams, suppliers and the client.
- Grow with experts in a collaborative, digitally-enabled environment that champions LEAN ways of working.
- Subcontract strategy & procurement: draft and coordinate contracts, T&Cs, project specifics and scopes of work; run tenders, evaluate bids and recommend awards.
- Administer NEC contracts: manage early warnings, compensation events, disallowed cost assessments, and pain/gain verification with clear, auditable records.
- Drive commercial performance: ensure compliance with main and subcontract terms; support forecasting and cost control; manage valuations, payments, liabilities and variations.
- Partner with stakeholders: act as the commercial interface across delivery teams, subcontractors and the client; support risk & opportunity management and timely change control.
- Report with confidence: produce concise commercial reports, dashboards and KPIs; contribute to reviews, audits and lessons learned while maximising LEAN/digital opportunities.
What you'll bring
- Proven subcontract experience in major civils/highways-including hands-on production of contracts, T&Cs and SoWs.
- Strong NEC knowledge/experience (change control, EWs/CEs, entitlement).
- Track record across pre- and post-contract stages for packages to ~£
- Collaborative, detail-driven approach with excellent stakeholder skills.
- BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Professional membership MRICS / MCInstCES / MCIOB (or working towards).
- CSCS (Professionally Qualified Person).
- Work on a project with real community impact and sustainability ambition.
