Job Summary

The Junior Medical Gas Sales Representative is responsible for supporting and growing the sales of medical gas products (such as oxygen, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, specialty gases, and related equipment) within healthcare facilities. This role involves building relationships with decision-makers at hospitals, clinics, surgery centers, and laboratories; understanding product specifications; educating customers; and achieving sales and growth targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect, qualify, and generate new business leads in assigned territory (hospitals, clinics, labs).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current customers (biomedical engineers, surgical directors, operating room managers, respiratory therapists, purchasing departments).
  • Conduct presentations and product demonstrations to healthcare professionals, explaining technical features, safety profiles, and compliance of medical gas systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (technical support, logistics, regulatory/compliance) to ensure accurate specifications and installations.
  • Stay current on industry standards, safety, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, CGA, ISO, USP standards related to medical gases).
  • Monitor competitive activity; provide feedback on market trends, pricing, and product improvements.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, quotas, and growth metrics.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports, forecasts, expense reports.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and workshops as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and follow-up to ensure satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications

Skills & Attributes
  • Good technical aptitude: able to learn product specifications, compliance/safety requirements.
  • Strong communication & presentation skills.
  • Customer-oriented with a consultative selling approach.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage own time, organize travel and territory visits.
  • Ability to build relationships at multiple levels within healthcare organizations.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and overnight stays, as required.

Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment/samples as needed.
  • Familiarity with CRM software (Salesforce, NetSuite, etc.).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Number of new accounts opened per quarter.
  • Sales revenue / units sold vs. target.
  • Customer retention / repeat orders.
  • Pipeline growth (leads, opportunities).
  • Demonstrations / product installations completed.
  • Compliance with training, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Work Environment
  • Office/field work.
  • On-site at healthcare facilities.
  • Exposure to medical gas systems, safety protocols.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering, business, or related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of sales experience (healthcare, medical devices, technical / industrial gases preferred but not required).
  • Some familiarity with medical gas industry, regulatory environment, or gas handling is a plus.
