In this fast-paced pre-sales engineering role, you support the sales team by demonstrating technical expertise and guiding customers toward the best automation solutions.

Your responsibilities include understanding customer needs, designing system architectures, preparing bills of materials, and delivering technical reports, analyses, and demos that highlight Emerson's competitive advantages. You stay up-to-date with Industry 4.0 technologies and act as a trusted advisor to customers as they modernize their operations.

The role also involves driving product specification and implementation by working closely with end-users, OEMs, EPCs, and system integrators across the Benelux, Nordic, and UK & Ireland regions.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• To put customers first by understanding their challenges and providing effective technical guidance.
• To deliver demonstrations, presentations, system architectures, and bills of materials that support the sales process.
• To resolve pre-sales technical issues related to PLC systems, applications, operator interfaces, and HMI/SCADA software.
• To support new customers with technical onboarding and start-up assistance.
• To develop and showcase product and solution demos, including proof-of-concept software.
• To conduct technical workshops, short training sessions, plant tours, and on-site inspections.
• To represent the company at trade shows and industry events through presentations and demos.
• To create technical articles, application notes and maintain accurate tracking of all technical support cases.
• To build, test, and simulate systems to expand expertise and troubleshoot product-related issues.
• To collaborate with cross-functional teams and report all activities through Salesforce CRM.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• A higher technical education in either Control Systems / Computer Science / Electrical / Electronics / IT / Computer Programming.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an application engineering role, or a systems integration role, preferably in industrial automation.
• Working knowledge of discrete and hybrid automation systems. Technologies include Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)/Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs), Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Servo Motion, Safety Systems (Machine Safety, Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and Fire & Gas (F&G)), Operator Interfaces, HMI/SCADA software and cloud/EDGE technologies.
• Pre-sales experience in adjacent industries may be considered for the right candidate (information & operations technology / electrical/industrial or manufacturing software / MES & MIS / cloud computing/mechatronics/robotics/instrumentation / OEM equipment).
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Native or professional working proficiency in English and preferably Dutch language speaker.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

• Proven PLC Programming experience.
• Programming experience in VB, Python.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of MS SQL.
• Industrial PCs and networking.
