Compensation Range:
$136,800 - $167,200 base salary annually

What You'll Do
- Manage and defend jurisdictional audits, including sampling methodologies, appeals, protests, and litigation support
- Assess and manage legacy audit liabilities and risks, including audit liability accruals
- Advise on large transaction structures (M&A), contract reviews, and integration planning for tax implications
- Partner with business units to evaluate taxability of complex transactions and develop tax-efficient solutions
- Provide technical guidance on manufacturing operations and implement tax savings strategies
- Lead special projects and manage third-party consulting agreements
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, advising on policy impacts and pending litigation
- Oversee U.S. sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, responding to tax inquiries
- Manage exemption certificate processes and complex taxability determinations
- Conduct tax research and interpret current laws, regulations, and rulings
- Review contracts, invoices, and sales transactions for proper tax treatment and exposure identification
- Seek continuous improvement of work processes and collaborate with IT to automate reporting and enhance tax data integrity
- Assist with nexus studies, registration requirements, and evaluate tax software/ERP systems for accuracy
- Consult on tax implications of new business transactions and product/service launches
- Coordinate outsourcing/co-sourcing arrangements for compliance functions, including vendor management
- Communicate effectively with internal clients, senior colleagues, and cross-functional teams
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance and optimize tax processes
- Prepare and review tax filings, documentation, and reports for accuracy and completeness
- Support performance management by setting objectives and monitoring results
- Contribute to policy development and ensure alignment with organizational goals
What You'll Bring
- Legally authorized to work in job posting country
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in sales and use tax controversy
- Advanced proficiency in audit methods, sampling techniques, and jurisdictional audit processes
- Strong technical expertise in manufacturing taxability and planning
- Deep understanding of state tax laws, nexus determination, and sourcing rules
- Exceptional planning and organizational abilities, with a track record of aligning work to strategic objectives
- Experience with tax determination software (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE, Sovos) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Peoplesoft)
- Comfortable presenting to internal and external stakeholders
What Makes You Stand Out
- CMI designation or equivalent professional certification
- Experience in the midstream oil and gas industry, especially natural gas gathering, processing, and NGL transportation
- Public accounting or industry experience in tax controversy
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex tax issues into actionable business guidance
- Experience in high-volume, multi-entity environments
- Proven success in coaching and developing others in tax best practices
- Expertise in leveraging data and technology to optimize tax processes
- High standards of accountability and integrity in all work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting memos, audit responses, and internal guidance
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and documentation
- Ability to manage complexity, solve problems, and make sound decisions independently
