Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will shape and execute an effective sales strategy for ABB's Instrumentation portfolio within the New Zealand market, strengthening our market presence and supporting our growth ambitions. You will define, plan, and lead the delivery of the sales strategy each day, ensuring strong performance across both qualitative and quantitative targets for products, systems, and services. Your work will directly contribute to sustainable order growth, revenue, profitability, market share, sales productivity, and customer satisfaction.

You will also bring your leadership capability to the forefront by guiding, developing, and coaching the sales team, to drive high performance and consistently achieve sales targets.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid #hybrid

This role contributes to the Instrumentation product group within ABB's Measurement & Analytics business in New Zealand. Main stakeholders include customers across key industrial sectors, channel partners, the regional sales organization, service teams, and global product management.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Achieving the Annual Orders, Revenue and EBITDA Targets for Instrumentation Business Line for New Zealand.
  • Leading the established team of Sales and Service Personnel, setting their annual targets and performance parameters and supporting the team in achieving the same.
  • Establishing a continuous review mechanism for business performance of the team, initiate specific learning programs for development areas and also explore the need of ushering in new talents as per business needs.
  • Aligning with the Global Product and Marketing teams and ensuring roll out of country specific sales and business development strategies for New Zealand for the Instrumentation business.
  • Anticipating and identifying the shortfalls in performance of your team and takes appropriate remedial actions, proactively.
  • Identifying and evaluating new opportunities with existing and potential customers, determines plans for implementation, and allocates required resources.
  • Planning and executing customer surveys and acts on the survey results to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Participating in the negotiation of key contracts.
  • Performing the role of executive contact and fiduciary local division management for Measurement and Analytics division in NZ.

Qualifications for the role

  • You are highly skilled in working with instrumentation, measurement technologies, and modern sales tools, and you enjoy operating within the industrial and process automation market.
  • You bring extensive experience in Industrial automation / Instrumentation sales, with a proven ability to demonstrate strong commercial capability and customer engagement. Exposure to basic Process Industries Customer Segment in NZ would be a crucial asset.
  • You are adept in using CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, SAP and digital collaboration systems to drive performance and insights.
  • You are passionate about building strong customer relationships and leading high‑performing sales teams, and you bring an innovative, solutions‑focused mindset to your work.
  • You hold a degree or equivalent qualification in engineering (Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics) or a related field, supported by a strong track record in technical or industrial sales.
  • You are comfortable communicating in English across diverse customer and stakeholder groups.
  • You are willing to travel for sales requirements across the entire sales region of NZ, with a flair for cold calls and a hunting attitude for sales opportunity lead generation and order closures.
