This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We're entering an exciting new chapter as we've announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. Local Business Line Manager, GI RA Japan

Your role and responsibilities

This sales position involves proposing ABB's robots and integrated solutions to manufacturing companies such as automotive component suppliers (non-OEMs), food manufacturers, and metal processors, supporting customers in improving productivity, quality, and safety.
You will provide solution sales addressing customer factory challenges by leveraging ABB's latest globally-available robots (industrial robots, collaborative robots, etc.), peripheral equipment, and simulation software in collaboration with internal technical teams.
While primary activities focus on working through trading companies and system integrators (SIs), you will also directly visit end-users to identify and develop new business opportunities.

The work model for the role is hybrid.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • 1. Industrial Robot Solutions Sales • Propose ABB robots (IRB Series, CRB Series) and automated line solutions • Conduct on-site process assessments and identify customer facility challenges
  • 2. Quotation, Specification, and Project Management • Prepare quotations for robot systems, application packages, and control systems • Coordinate with SIs, engineering firms, and distributors • Manage project implementation and act as liaison between customers and technical teams
  • 3. Market Development and Customer Relationship Building • Identify new market opportunities and develop new customer relationships • Support existing automotive suppliers, component manufacturers, and general industrial customers
  • 4. Global Collaboration • Confirm technical specifications and select optimal solutions • Localize global products and new technologies • Exchange information with international engineering and product teams

Qualifications for the role
  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience (or technical sales) in the manufacturing industry
  • Sales experience in technical products (robots, equipment, factory automation, machinery, devices, etc.)
  • Ability to identify customer challenges through on-site factory visits and propose effective solutions

Desired Qualification (NICE-TO-HAVE)
  • Sales experience in automation equipment (robots, PLCs, etc.)
