Your Role and Responsibilities

• Conduct research and technology development in the field of power electronics used in variable speed drives.
• Study the basic principle and analyze the root causes of existing issues in products.
• Track cutting-edge technology in variable speed drives. Scan local science and technology progress in power electronics relevant for variable speed drives.
• Build long-term collaborations with global research teams and local academic societies.
• Execute research projects and keep communicating and networking with all related stakeholders.
• Adhere to ABB integrity and compliance policies.

Qualifications for the Role

• Ph.D. degree in power electronics or other related electrical engineering majors.
• Solid theoretical background in the following areas with publications in renowned transactions / journals.
  • Variable speed drive topologies
  • Magnetic component design
  • Power semiconductors application (Such as device modeling, gate drive, heat dissipation design, condition monitoring, failure analysis, etc.)
  • AC/DC and DC/DC power converters
  • EMC design
• Experiences of the following areas is a plus:
  • PCBA design
  • General programming skills on DSP or FPGA.
  • Hands-on experience in commissioning.
• Self-motivated, high curiosity and able to work under pressure.
• Team player with communication and interpersonal skills
• Good in both oral and written English
