This Position reports to:
Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP). Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions.

The work model for the role is: onsite/hybrid

This role is contributing to the R&D Material Development Team in Uster, Switzerland. Main stakeholders are PM, PjM, Quality and Operations.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Maintaining recognized expertise in polymer material development and material compounding by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work.
• Finding new ways of solving problems by following your ideas, creating hypotheses, and defining ways to validate them.
• The development and formulation of new polymers, operating the twin-screw compounder and assisting in production trials.
• Understanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization and participating in the project IP strategy development.

Qualifications for the role

• You enjoy working with internal and external Stakeholders like Suppliers, Universities, Global ABB Material Competence Center as well as ABB Research and Technology Centers and the Railway market
• Ability to demonstrate your advanced skills with 5 years of experience in polymer formulation and compounding
• Possess an enhanced knowledge of extrusion and injection molding process
• You are innovative and curious around new materials and collaboration
• MSc Degree in Chemistry in organic Chemistry or Polymers
• You are at ease communicating in German and English
