Job Overview

As an Elastomer Chemist at Weatherford, you'll research, develop, and test rubber-like materials (elastomers) and thermoplastics for oil and gas industry applications. You'll support products throughout their entire lifecycle from design to failure analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and formulate elastomeric and thermoplastic materials
  • Recommend appropriate materials for specific applications
  • Work with procurement teams to identify new suppliers
  • Assist quality teams with supplier audits and resolving non-conformances
  • Help solve manufacturing problems related to elastomer production
  • Conduct failure analyses and prepare technical reports
  • Test materials to evaluate their properties using industry standards
  • Create specifications for processes, products, and testing
  • Coordinate multiple projects and direct lab technicians and junior chemists
  • Comply with Weatherford's quality and safety policies

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or materials engineering
  • 6-10 years of elastomers experience
  • 5 years of experience with oilfield elastomers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel
  • Experience with elastomer testing and analytical techniques
  • Skill in managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Knowledge of oilfield elastomers

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or Master's Degree in Polymer Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience with oilfield polymers
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Experience in elastomer compounding
  • Knowledge of composites
  • Understanding of quality systems

Travel Requirements

This position requires up to 25% travel, both domestic and potentially international.
