Key responsibilities

In this role, you are a member of a self-organized and cross-functional team for development of industrial process automation systems. You will take responsibility for the development of a Distributed Control System with a focus on Embedded Software. You will report to the Team Lead for the automation system in Minden (North Rhine-Westphalia), Germany and contribute significantly to successfully delivering high-quality Distributed Control Systems to our customers.

This role is contributing to the Automation business area with its Process Control Platform division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Participation in the entire software development process (analysis of customer requirements, implementation, testing and validation) for the automation system, also in connection with embedded systems (new products, further development and maintenance of existing systems).
• Verification of product requirements, creation of high-quality designs and implementation of efficient and effective software solutions.
• Development of software in accordance with quality and safety guidelines, mainly for industrial process automation.
• Keeping up to date with technologies, tools and methods, and implementing initiatives to improve operations and customer satisfaction.
• Solving complex industrial problems.
• Reviewing current technologies to choose effective applications, equipment and methods for new products or software.
• Providing expert assistance for projects and colleagues.

Qualifications for the role

• Degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or electrical engineering or equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in software development, preferably as an R&D engineer of industrial automation.
• Knowledge of hardware-related software architectures and operating systems.
• Experience with C, C++ and C#.
• Knowledge of Ethernet-based communication protocols (e.g. Profinet, Modbus TCP, ...) is appreciated.
• Know-how in agile development methods and traditional models (V-model).
• Experience with Azure DevOps or Azure DevOps Services.
• German: business fluent in speaking and writing; English: fluent in speaking and writing
• A high degree of self-motivation, curiosity and the desire to learn about new technologies.
• Collaborative personality, solution-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
